The 75th U.S. Army Reserve Innovation Command (USARIC) is conducting large-scale counter-small unmanned aircraft systems (C-sUAS) technology assessments during Operation Sentinel Justice 26 (OSJ 26), the largest exercise in Army Reserve history. The exercise, held June 7–21, 2026, at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, involves more than 12,000 Army Reserve Soldiers and is led by the 78th Training Division and 200th Military Police Command.
The stated operational objective is to ensure Army Reserve formations can detect, assess, and defeat unmanned threats in three minutes or less—a timeline driven by the lethality demonstrated by drone attacks against U.S. forces in the Middle East (including six Army Reserve Soldiers killed in Kuwait) and the systematic employment of inexpensive UAS in Ukraine.
The 75th USARIC evaluated 20 advanced systems organized across a detect-decide-defeat framework:
Detect: AeroVironment’s Titan Sky View provides 360-degree surveillance and precise sUAS localization. MyDefence’s Wingman is a ruggedized wearable RF detector providing early warning during patrols.
Decide: AirScout uses hardened AI and sensor-fusion algorithms to integrate multi-source data and provide real-time threat assessments supporting rapid decision-making.
Defeat: Dronebuster 4 is a handheld jamming device with target acquisition capability. SMASH is an AI-enabled optic combining computer vision with ballistic tracking to increase small-arms accuracy against moving aerial targets. Pitbull provides RF disruption, and the Light Expeditionary Energy Agile Platform (LEEAP) is a hybrid-electric all-terrain vehicle providing silent watch and exportable power.
The 75th USARIC also deployed its internally developed video Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) system, which transforms raw video into a searchable intelligence database. Supporting partners include DARPA, the Defense Forensics and Biometrics Agency, U.S. Army Training and Transformation Command, U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center, and the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering.
